This weapon is a +4 holy bane bastard sword used in several crusades. Although made of steel, it is treated as being made of both cold iron and silver for the purposes of overcoming damage reduction. It glows with the equivalent of continual flame, but its wielder can extinguish or ignite this glow as a move action. In addition, the weapon gains a further +2 enhancement bonus and deals an extra 2d6 points of damage against foes who serve or worship Zon-Kuthon.
Although it is lawful good, as long as its wielder is dedicated to the defeat of Kazavon and those he has corrupted, the blade does not attempt to seize control of its wielder. If the wielder acts against its wishes, it tries to force him to relinquish it to a more appropriate wielder.
This weapon can only be destroyed by the breath weapon of a great wyrm shadow dragon worshiper of Zon-Kuthon while it is unattended.
Serithtial is said to have been forged by Iomedae herself, then gifted to the hero Mandraivus’ great-grandfather. Originally used in crusades against Nidal, it eventually came to Mandraivus’ possession.
Thusly armed, he led an assault against the castle Scarwall, Kazavon’s seat of power. After Kazavon was dispatched, Mandraivus sought to make Scarwall his, only to fall to a massive onslaught of orcs. Serithtial was lost for some 300 years, hidden in the caverns below Scarwall by a monstrous entity seeking Zon-Kuthon’s favor.
Eventually the sword was found again, its power once more challenging Kazavon’s.
